Nothing was so representative of the ghastly and groovy sensibilities of The Munsters as was the Munster Koach. Part hearse, part hotrod all ghoul-a-go-go delight!!! What a kid wouldn't have given for a toy or model version of it back in the day. There have been few over the years, but I think this one is the best. The Racing Champion (ERTL) 1:18 scale die-cast model of the Munster Koach is a gem! Highly detailed and captures all of the ferociously fiendish attitude of the original that was built and designed by Barris Kustom Industries (George Barris - Batmobile, Green Hornet's Black Beauty) in 1964. Awe at the spider-web designs on the windshield and the headlamps. The model even captures the interior’s chrome dash gauges, quilted blood-red velvet trim and yellow window drapes! The only slight drawback may be the missing skull shifter knob and the winged skull radiator cap / hood ornament that are on the Koach as it appears today. But hey, if it was the other way around, I’d be crabbing about how it isn’t the way it was on the show. It would be a lovely addition to anyone's collection.

The actual Munster Koach was made from 3 Ford Model Ts, has a four-speed manual transmission and a 289 Ford Cobra engine. It was built in the 21 days Universal Studios gave them and cost $18,000. The Koach appeared in over 20 episodes of The Munsters and the feature film.
